My sister was here from Illinois for a week so I was soaking up all the time I can with her and my nephew. We spent it full of beach days, pool days, lazy days, errand days, cleaning days. I love that her son is only 2 months older than Maddox. I can’t wait to watch the dynamic of their relationship shift and change as they grow older. I wonder who the trouble-maker will be.

DIY Hair Mask For Curlies

If you’re a curly girl like me, you know how untamable and unruly hair can be. Between the frizz, the poof, and the dryness it seems almost impossible to work out a system which locks in moisture and keeps frizz at bay. Now that I’ve finally embraced my curls, I’m always trying to perfect my curly hair routine. It has required a lot of patience, a lot of wasted products, and a lot of trial and error. I’d like to believe I’m almost at my perfect routine but there are still so many more products I’d like to try.

One thing I’ve implemented into my routine is a homemade hair mask. I do this about once every two weeks and it helps restore the moisture and lesson frizz. It’s an impressive change especially since the winter weather is quick to strip my hair. A couple months back i tried a recipe with egg hoping for it to add more protein and strengthen my hair. Instead, I found it stripped my hair of moisture and texture making it almost straw-like.

But my tried and true recipe is 1/2 cup of conditioner (whatever you use daily) with 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil. It seriously does wonders. It doesn’t leave hair oily or greasy, but it gives my hair the perfect amount of moisture, softens my curls, and keeps frizz at ease.

I highly recommend giving this a go!
